Double Dog Dare You…

What in the world is my “football” you ask?

Go ahead ask me about my “football” and you are likely to get me to go off on a half hour or more deer trail where I send you links to watch clips of my “football”. Remember you asked! My “football” entails long hours of watching live streams on YouTube of a variety of channels all focused on rocket ships. Not just any ship but Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, StarHopper and Starship the lineup of rockets built and launched by SpaceX.

This is the short version of the best parts of this launch. It was actually about an hour or more watching the whole thing and then watching Starman until he was out of range! The MOST impressive and yelling worthy point of this mission was the fact that BOTH of the side boosters landed on land at the same time! Sadly the center booster missed the barge due to the high seas (if I remember right). This rocket has only ever gone up TWICE but there is one more planned for later this year!
My next favorite was watching the “flying water tower” known as Starhopper take off and land as the precursor to Starship testing.
These tests have us watching “football” multiple times per week just to possibly see something like this brief instant. Often everyone is up late as SpaceX does testing at night with 4-6 hour windows.

The BEST is coming soon however…

Next week is the launch of Dragon 2 to the ISS with VERY SPECIAL cargo… the first humans since 2011 to launch from the USA! Yes, it is football season year round for me…. right after the DM2 is a Starlink launch AND a 150 meter launch and land of Starship after likely a couple more test fires of it’s engines!

So really, I double dog dare you to ask about my “football” you will end up getting an education on Raptor Engines and LOX and so many other things that go into a launch. I’m only an armchair scientist but with every single launch I learn something new!

Want to learn even more about the rockets and their engines along with ALL the other rocket companies out there? I totally recommend watching ANYTHING Tim Dodd, The Everyday Astronaut has done from his videos on the engines to his live streams of all the launches including landings! On the live streams he answers questions as they fly at him in chat and there is so much he has learned just by talking to those in the industry including people at NASA and SpaceX!

I do have to admit I have watched other live streams of Boeing, Ariene Aerospace and several other ships going up too but I am a big fangirl of SpaceX.
