Archiving Categories

At the start of my time with the State of Alaska I was a Administrative Clerk. As a clerk I was placed in charge of archiving old files to make space for current files. This was a monumental task that had not been tackled in several years so there were 20+ boxes to start with. Based on the Archive Guidelines I developed a simplified chart to help me sort the files. In the process of doing this it became known that no matter how many… Continue reading

Where Hobbies & Career Meet

Just a few things that excite me, light me up, that I truly enjoy and where they cross the boundaries from Hobby to potential Career. There’s a lot more than this but charts and graphs can only handle so much information!

Please Perform the Following Miracle

I am generally known as a “Miracle Worker” who can get insane amounts of tasks completed. As a joke I was left with a hand drawn version of this on my desk one day and so decided to turn it into a sheet of 4 that I could print. I left them on the corner of my desk and would find notes from co-workers, supervisors and other managers from time to time which would always make me smile!

Planners

One of my favorite tools is planners. I haven’t found a commercial one I really like and so using my Word formatting skills I tend to create my own to suit my own styles and needs. The below document is a small selection of the ones I’ve designed over the years and use frequently. Most are loosely based on the GTD system and allow me the freedom to write what I need to where I need to and then translate that information into my Toodledo and TaskUnifier systems which… Continue reading

Where do I or have I used these programs?

CMS: WordPress, Drupal, Dreamweaver,  Joomla  WordPress, install via cpanel and manually via FTP. Configure basic settings, install theme and plugins. Troubleshoot conflicts and custom changes to HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP researching for additional information as needed. Total current number of sites is 14 with subdomains. I personally use Infinite WordPress to manage updates, themes, plugins and backups.  Prior to using WP for all of the sites I used Joomla or Drupal as well as hand coding in HTML CSS and using Dreamweaver for development…. Copiers & Technical Issues

The repair techs as they came to know me and the copiers I watch over were gracious enough to give me lessons in reading codes and handling a variety of basic issues. They also helped me understand which codes were necessary to call repair for and which I could fix. This has resulted in several thousand dollars in cost savings for the State of Alaska. The latest copier is under a warranty lease and repair calls are no longer expensive however there are still some… Continue reading

My Doll Business

I get a lot of questions and funny looks when I mention that my small business which was started in 1995 is focused solely on dolls. You see my original college major was Fashion Design and I focused on dolls as they are fun and easy to make a wide variety of garments for. When I talk about the size range I get more incredulous looks since the smallest doll I have and have actually designed, drafted and sewn for is a 1/2″ baby doll…. Continue reading

Achievements between December 2010 and March 2011

Just one year of all the things I accomplished! There’s more that I have likely forgotten or discounted as too minor. Screenings are more complete with fewer missed items as I have learned to recognize required items Initial apps were backed up into October and were fully caught up in mid January for screenings resulting in more initial providers being certified Increased use and proficiency with MMIS Better personal tracking system for screenings missing items and quicker turnaround on matching incoming items with packets More… Continue reading
